The Spring Lake volleyball team rallied from a 2-1 set deficit to defeat Hudsonville Unity Christian 3-2 on Tuesday in the first round of the O-K Blue conference tournament.

The Lakers won the first set 25-20, dropped the next two sets 25-19 and 25-12, the stormed back to take the last two and the match, 25-21 and 16-14.

Alicia Mumby paced the Lakers with 18 kills. Emma Nicles recorded 13 kills while Lily Garrison finished off seven. Makenna Glombowski led the team in serving with four aces while Kyla Kobylak dished out 37 assists and Kayleigh Hood added 13.

Defensively, the Lakers were led by Kendra Kieft with 37 digs, Meah Bajt added 18 and Glombowski and Mumby had 16 apiece. Mumby also finished the night with three blocks.

The Lakers improved to 5-15 overall and 3-5 in conference play. They will play Grand Rapids West Catholic next Tuesday in the second round of the tournament.
