Montague’s Reilly Murphy had 17 kills and two aces while teammate Ally Hall added 12 kills to lead the Wildcats to a three-set sweep of Whitehall on Tuesday n a key West Michigan Conference volleyball match.

The set scores were 25-17, 25-14, and 25-17. Montague is now 23-4 overall, and remains tied with North Muskegon on top of the conference standings with a 6-0 mark.

For Montague, Raegan Murphy had 34 assists and 11 digs. Defensively, Hall blocked three shots.

For Whitehall, Charley Klint had eight kills while Maggie Evans dished out 18 assists. On defense, Ryleigh Mott had 13 digs and Arianna Black had two blocks

Whitehall is now 13-5 overall and 5-2 in the conference.

WEST MICHIGAN CONFERENCE 

NORTH MUSKEGON 3, MASON COUNTY CENTRAL 0  – The Norse took all three sets on the Spartans’ home court. The set scores were 25-7, 25-16, and 25-15.

Syann Fairfield paced the Norse offense with 13 kills, four aces and 16 assists. Natalie Pannucci added nine kills. Emma Houseman set up the offense with  21 assists.

Defensively, Grace VanderWoude led with nine digs, Houseman followed with seven, and Fairfield dove for six.

SHELBY 3, HART 0 – Shelby rolled to the victory in the Oceana County rivalry match. The set scores were 25-13, 25-22, and 25-23.

For Hart, Cassidy Copenhaver and Rylee Noggle led with four kills each, followed by Finley Kistler and Avery Beachum with three apiece. Kistler also had three aces and 15 assists.

Copenhaver led the Pirate defense with 31 digs on the night.

Hart fell to 6-12 overall and  1-6 in conference play. No information was available for Shelby.

LAKES 8

MUSKEGON CATHOLIC 3, ORCHARD VIEW 0 – MCC’s Erin LaVigne had 13 kills in the win over the Cardinals.

The set scores were 25-15, 25-11, 25-16. Muskegon Catholic improved to 8-6 on the year.

McKenna Gentry had three aces for MCC followed by Elana LaGuire with two. Claire LaVigne had 32 assists, which took her over the 1,000 mark for her career. Defensively, Emma Maierhauser had 12 digs followed by LaGuire with nine.

For Orchard View, Aleya Jones had six kills and 10 digs followed by Kaelyn McNarland with nine digs. Orchard View is now 5-14 overall.

LUDINGTON 3, MANISTEE 0 – The Orioles swept the Lakes 8 Conference match by scores of 25-13, 25-10, and 25-14.

Elena Vaara and De’Lahna Porter led offensively for the Orioles, nailing 12 kills each. Sophia Cooney landed four aces on the night, followed by Vaara and Morgan Sanocki with three apiece. Veronique Chapman aided the offense with 24 assists.

Defensively, Cooney dove for six digs on the night. Porter added five digs while Vaara and Madisyn Wysong both added four.

The Orioles are now 3-1 in the Lakes 8 Conference, with an overall record of 12-9.

O-K GREEN

REETHS-PUFFER 3, WYOMING 0 – The Rockets swept their first-round match in the O-K Green conference tournament at home against Wyoming. The set scores were 23-11, 25-13, and 25-15.

Sophia Hekkema led the Rocket offense with 11 kills while Brianna Stawski landed six, along with five aces. Beth Jordan hit 32 assists on the night.

Jordan dove for eight digs on defense, along with Allie Moore’s seven. Stawski added four blocks against Wyoming.

The Rockets improved their O-K Green record to 6-2 and their overall mark to 9-9.

MONA SHORES 3, MUSKEGON 0 – Ava Dunn had seven kills in a winning effort over the Big Reds in the first round of the conference tournament.

The set scores were 25-6, 25-13, and 25-21. Mona Shores is now 14-6 overall and 8-0 in the conference.

Lauren Morea had seven aces for Mona Shores while Grace Norris had four kills and 17 assists.

The next match for the Sailors will be Thursday at 6 p.m. against Fruitport in the conference tournament semifinals.

For Muskegon, Kailyn Nash had four kills and 11 digs while Elaysia Harris had two aces. Aahlayah Sandifer contributed six assists.

O-K BLUE

GR WEST CATHOLIC 3, FRUITPORT 2 – The Trojans come up short in a hard fought battle with West Catholic in the first round of the O-K Blue conference tournament.

The Trojans won the first set 25-21, dropped the second 25-13, won the third 26-24, but then lost the last two sets 25-17 and 15-12.

Brooke Sieplinga paced the Trojans with 16 kills while Sydney Woods helped the cause with 12. Woods led the team in serving with four aces and Jenna VanderVelde dished out 41 assists. 

Defensively, Sarah Zielinski led the Trojans with 25 digs. Kylie Rudolph added 16 and Hope Busscher totaled 12. 

Fruitport fell to 4-18 overall this season.

NON-CONFERENCE

KENT CITY TRI – The Eagles defeated Covenant Christian and Sparta in a three-team event.

Kent City beat Covenant Christian 25-12, 25-14 and Sparta 25-17, 25-13.

For the Eagles, Erica Bull had 14 kills and Hannah VanderLugt added nine while Jenna Harrison had 26 assists. Defensively, Jasmine Weeks had 21 digs.

Kent City is now 15-2-1.
