The Western Michigan Christian volleyball team cruised to a three-set win against Muskegon Catholic to remain unbeaten in Lakes 8 play.

The Warriors won by scores of 25-10, 25-20, and 25-19 on Tuesday. 

Kyla Wiersema led the Warriors with nine kills, while Libby Mast finished the night with seven. Kendal Young produced five aces and dished out 33 assists. 

WMC was paced defensively by Young and Kyla Wiersema with eight digs. Maddie Wiersema finished the game with eight blocks. 

The Crusaders were led by Erin LaVigne with seven kills. McKenna Gentry and Claire LaVigne recorded two aces apiece. Claire LaVigne also chipped in with 16 assists. 

MCC was paced defensively by Emma Maierhauser with 13 digs. 

The Warriors improved to 16-7 overall and 4-0 in conference play, while Muskegon Catholic fell to 3-6 on the season and 1-2 in league action. 

LAKES 8 CONFERENCE

ORCHARD VIEW 3, MANISTEE 1 – The Cardinals won the hard-fought conference match in four sets. They lost the first one 27-25, then won the last three 25-11, 25-23, 25-22.

It was the Cardinals’ first Lakes 8 win of the season. They are now 5-7 overall and 1-3 in the conference.

Megan TenHove paced the Cardinals offensively and defensively with a team-high 12 kills and 13 digs. Aleya Jones contributed 12 digs, while Maranda Baker had five kills and nine digs.

O-K GREEN CONFERENCE

ZEELAND EAST 3, REETHS-PUFFER 0 – The Rockets put up a fight in each set but ended up being swept in the O-K Green conference match.

The set scores were 25-23, 25-21, and 25-23. Reeths-Puffer is now 7-6 overall, with a 5-2 record in the conference.

Sophia Hekkema led the Rocket offense with eight kills.

Defensively, Allie Moore had 14 digs and Tessa Lamphere’added13. Lamphere also blocked five shots and Hekkema blocked two.

GRAND RAPIDS UNION 3, MUSKEGON 1 – The Big Reds fell by scores of 14-25, 14-25, 25-21, 21-25 on Tuesday in league action.

Muskegon was led by Kailyn Nash with 13 kills and nine digs. Kamauri Mosley also chipped in defensively with seven digs.

WHITE CLOUD 3, HOLTON 1– The Red Devils lost a CSAA Silver Division contest by scores of 18-25, 12-25, 31-29 and 21-25 on Tuesday.

Layna Cartwright paced the Red Devils with 10 kills, while Ryann Robbins finished the night with seven. Kennedy Greene and Alanna Cregg both recorded two aces while Abby Fowler dished out 20 assists.

Greene and Gianna Reed led Holton defensively with 18 digs apiece. Cregg and Fowler finished with seven each.

HESPERIA 3 LAKEVIEW 0-The Panthers cruised to a CSAA Silver Conference win by service scores of 25-11, 25-15, and 25-13.

Rachel Romero paced the Hesperia with 10 kills, while Emily Bayle and Rylee Gleason finished with six each.

Bayle and Kyra Sayer finished the night with five aces apiece and Sayer dished out 10 assists, and Aria Thomas had five helpers. 

The Panthers were led defensively by Bayle with nine digs while Romero recorded six.

Hesperia is now 11-9 overall on the season and 5-2 in conference play.

MORLEY STANWOOD 3, KENT CITY 2 – The Eagles were clipped for the first time this season, losing in five sets by scores of 18-25, 25-20, 11-25, 25-21 and 19-17 on Tuesday.

Erica Bull led Kent City with 23 kills.

The Eagles were paced defensively by Jasmine Weeks had a team-high 29 digs and Alyssa Larson chipped in with 25.

Kent City falls to 11-1-1 overall and 5-1 in conference.

WEST MICHIGAN CONFERENCE

OAKRIDGE 3, SHELBY 0-The Eagles won a West Michigan Conference contest on Tuesday in three straight sets.

Emma Blackburn paced the Eagles with eight kills. Hayden Ruel facilitated the offense, dishing out 26 assists. 

The Eagles were led defensively by Emma Fri with 16 digs. Soley Seewald finished the evening with four blocks. 

Oakridge improved to 12-3 overall and 2-3 in conference action. 

MONTAGUE 3, MASON COUNTY CENTRAL 0 – The Wildcats won by set scores of 25-13, 25-14, and 25-14 in a West Michigan Conference match on Tuesday.

Ally Hall led Montagues with 12 kills, followed by Reilly Murphy with eight.

Hall scored an additional four aces and Raegan Murphy landed 38 assists.

Raegan Murphy dove for eight digs on the night, followed by Hall and Morgan Netcott with seven each and Ally Collins with six. Hall blocked six shots during the match.

The Spartans were paced by Hailey Jackson with five kills.

Montague is now 18-4 overall on the season and 4-0 in league play.

RAVENNA 3, HART 2 – The Pirates lost a West Michigan Conference match by scores of 25-21, 25-27, 25-23, 16-25, 8-15 on Tuesday.

Avery Beachum led Hart offensively with 14 kills while Cassidy Copenhaver had 11. 

The Pirates were paced defensively by Ariana Borrego with 28 digs and Audrey Aerts with 20.

Hart is now 5-11 overall and 1-5 in conference competition.

O-K BLUE CONFERENCE

SPRING LAKE 3, FRUITPORT 1– The Lakers won a four-set O-K Blue Conference contest by scores of 17-25, 25-23, 25-22 and 25-22.

The Trojans were led by Brooke Sieplinga with 13 kills, while Autumn Sharlow finished the night with 11. Sydney Woods added four aces and Jenna VanderVelde dished out 39 assists. 

The Trojans fell to 3-16 overall and 1-5 in conference play.

ALLIANCE LEAGUE

FRUITPORT CALVARY 3, KALAMAZOO HERITAGE 1 – The Eagles won by service scores of 25-11, 18-25, 25-11 and 25-16 on Tuesday.

Ella Dykman paced Fruitport Calvary with four aces and 19 kills while Logan Burgess added 15 killsa and 23 digs. Bekah Dukes chipped in with 31 assists.

The Eagles are now 7-4-1 on the season and 5-1 in conference play.
