The North Muskegon boys basketball team rallied from a nine-point halftime deficit and beat Hart 46-40 on Friday in West Michigan Conference action.

The two teams battled to an 8-8 tie at the end of the first quarter. The Pirates then outscored the Norse by a 15-6 margin in the second quarter to take a 23-14 lead at halftime.

The Norse heated up offensively during the third quarter, outscoring Hart 22-12 to take a 36-35 advantage heading into the fourth.

North Muskegon finished the game with a 10-5 run during the final stanza.

Brennen McManus paced the Norse with 17 points while going 4-for-5 from the free throw line. Troy McManus chipped in with nine points. 

The Pirates were led by Parker Hovey with 15 points, while Kellen Kimes added nine. 

The Norse improved to 1-2 overall, while Hart fell to 1-4.

WEST MICHIGAN CONFERENCE

MONTAGUE 47, SHELBY 33 – The Wildcats took the lead early in the game against the Tigers, leading 11-6 after the first quarter, 23-19 at halftime, and 37-25 after three.

Drew Collins led Montague with 14 points and eight rebounds on the night. Isaiah Archinson added another nine points and seven rebounds.

The Wildcats are now 3-1 overall as well as in the West Michigan Conference.

RAVENNA 77, MASON COUNTY CENTRAL 64 – The Bulldogs outscored the Spartans 23-11 in the first quarter and 23-12 in the second quarter, taking a safe 46-23 lead into halftime.

Kyle Beebe paced the Bulldogs with 24 points, nine assists and seven rebounds. Dom Jones added 14 points while Joel Emery chipped in with 12 points. The Spartans were led by Will Chye, who led all scorers with 25 points, while Jayden Perrone chipped in with 15.

O-K BLUE CONFERENCE

SPRING LAKE 53, HAMILTON 45 – Kaden George scored a career-high of 24 points to help Lakers earn their first win of the season.

Hamilton led 9-8 after the first quarter and 23-20 at halftime. The Lakers then went on a 15-10 third quarter run to take a 35-33 advantage heading into the fourth.

Spring Lake outscored the Hawkeyes by an 18-12 margin during the final stanza.

Evan McDermott and Porter Saunders added seven points each for the Lakers, while Jackson Core had six points, six rebounds, three steals, three blocks and two assists.

Spring Lake is now 1-2 overall and in the O-K Blue conference.

OK-RED CONFERENCE 

GRAND HAVEN 62, ROCKFORD 49 – The Bucs outscored Rockford 17-13 in the first quarter and 18-10 in the second quarter to take a 35-23 halftime lead.

The Rams cut into the lead in the third quarter, cutting the Grand Haven lead to 44-36 after three quarters, but the Bucs pulled away down the stretch.

Landon Van Beek paced the Bucs with 15 points. Bashir Neely finished with 13 points, while Harrison Sorrelle chipped in with 10 points. 

Grand Haven improved to 3-0 overall and in conference play.

CSAA

HOLTON 42, KENT CITY 38 – Aidan Poling sank two late free throws to lead the Red Devils to a CSAA Silver win. 

Holton trailed 9-8 after the first quarter before going on a 10-5 run to take an 18-14 lead into halftime.

The Eagles cut their deficit to 33-30 at the start of the fourth quarter., but Holton held on.

Poling paced the Red Devils with 19 points, while Wyatt Monnette recorded 10 and Carter Brant finished with seven. 

Hayden Carlson led Kent City with 20 points while Kyler Larson finished with 11. 

The Red Devils improved to 5-1 overall and 4-0 in conference play while Kent City fell to 2-2 overall and 2-1 in league action. 

FREMONT 79 TRI-COUNTY 63 – The Packers had a strong second half ,which led to another CSAA Gold victory on Friday. 

The teams battled to a 17-17 tie after the first quarter and Fremont trailed 32-28 at halftime.

The Packers came out of halftime and outscored the Vikings 23-15 in the third quarter, taking a 51-47 lead into the fourth quarter. Fremont closed out the game with a 28-16 run.

Braiden McDonald paced the Packers with 24 points. Jordan McDonald finished with 21 points and 15 rebounds, while Joshua Zerfas recorded 12 points, eight steals, seven assists and seven rebounds.

The Packers improved to 3-2 overall, and 3-1 in CSAA Gold play.

MORLEY STANWOOD 54, HESPERIA 9 – The Panthers struggled offensively in a CSAA Silver matchup. 

The Mohawks outscored Hesperia 9-3 in the first quarter and 11-1 in the second to take a 20-4 lead at halftime. Morley-Stanwood then outscored the Panthers 21-1 in the third quarter. 

WEST MICHIGAN D

PENTWATER 71, BIG RAPIDS CROSSROADS 20 – Four Pentwater boys scored in double figures to bring the Falcons to 3-1 for the season and 2-1 in conference play.

Khole Hoffman led the Falcons with a double-double, putting up 20 points and 12 rebounds. Blake Brigindahl scored another 14 points, Tyler Plummer added 13 and Will Werkema Grondsma put up 12 points along with eight steals.

Pentwater led 31-4 in the first quarter, 47-17 at halftime, and 64-20 at the end of the third.

The Falcons are now 3-1 overall and 2-1 in conference play.

ALLIANCE LEAGUE

FRUITPORT CALVARY CHRISTIAN 65, BYRON CENTER ZION CHRISTIAN 44– Bradley Richards’ 21 points led the Eagles past Zion Christian in Alliance League play. 

Tough defense helped the Eagles jump out to a 38-27 lead at halftime. 

Jacob May chipped in with 13 points, seven assists and six rebounds for Calvary while Braden Cohea recorded 10 points, five assists and four steals. 

The Eagles improved to 2-2 overall and 1-1 in conference play.
