The Muskegon Community College women’s basketball squad bounced back after its opening night loss, defeating Grand Rapids Community College 57-48 on Friday.
The Jayhawks outscored GRCC 16-7 in the opening quarter.
Both teams scored 12 points in the second quarter and MCC held a 28-19 advantage at halftime.
GRCC cut into the Jayhawks lead as MCC had a slim 42-38 lead heading into the final quarter of play.
Tanae Hamer paced the Jayhawks with 19 points while Trina Lewis finished with nine points and 11 rebounds.
The Jayhawks improved to 1-1 overall this season, and 1-0 in conference play.
MCC will take on Mid-Michigan College on Tuesday night.
