The Reeths-Puffer hockey team opened its season with a rough 8-2 loss to visiting Rockford on Wednesday at Mercy Health Arena.
The Rockets fell behind quickly, giving up a pair of goals in the opening period. The second period did not get better as Reeths-Puffer found itself trailing 6-0.
Matt Herniman tallied the Rockets’ first goal of the season on an assist from Caden Brainard early in the third period. Samuel Convertini added an unassisted goal just under three minutes later.
Rockford responded with two more goals before the clock expired to hand Reeths-Puffer the loss.
