The Hesperia girls basketball team earned its first winning of the season, defeating Walkerville 60-47 in a non-league game on Wednesday night.

Emily Bayle and Emmi Tinkham led the Panthers each with double-doubles.

Bayle finished with 22 points and 12 rebounds while Tinkham had 18 points and 11 rebounds. Rachel Romero also chipped in with 12 points and four assists.

Hesperia trailed 13-11 at the end of the first, led 31-27 at halftime and had a 46-42 advantage at the end of the third quarter.

The Panthers are now 1-3 overall and 0-3 in conference play.

OAKRIDGE 56, ORCHARD VIEW 21 – The Eagles cruised to a non-league win over OV on Wednesday night.

Oakridge led 11-3 at the end of the first quarter, 31-5 at halftime after a 20-2 run by the Eagles, and 45-10 heading into the final stanza.

The Eagles were paced by Leah Lowry with 14 points, while Kyla Stewart and Gena Lundquist added eight apiece. Both Anna Lundquist and Jasmine Pastor chipped in with seven.

Anna Lundquist also played strong defensively with five rebounds and four block shots.

The Eagles improved to 3-4 on the season and 2-4 in league play.

WHITEHALL 45, LUDINGTON 32 – The Vikings jumped out to a 12-6 lead after the first quarter, led 26-13 at halftime and had a 37-28 advantage heading into the final quarter.

Charley Klint paced Whitehall with 18 points and eight rebounds while Karleigh Jeffries added 10 points and seven rebounds. Greta Hosticka chipped in with nine points and seven boards.

The Vikings are now 4-3 overall on the season.
