Maggie Evans scored twice and had one assist to lead the Whitehall girls soccer team to a season-opening 4-3 victory over Oakridge on Tuesday.

The game was tied 3-3, before Whitehall scored the game-winner in the second half.

Other scorers for the Vikings were Ryleigh Mott, and Marissa Strandberg. Mott, Strandberg and Tori Russell also has single assists.

Whitehall goalie Gwen Gould had a busy night, stopping six of nine shots. Gould and the Viking defenders combined to keep Oakridge from scoring in the second half.

NORTH MUSKEGON 8, FREMONT 0 – Hope Johnson scored a three-goal hat trick to lead the Norse to a season-opening victory.\

Johnson also had two assists while Audrey Wilson scored two goals for the Norse. Allie Jensen, Katie Kinanan and Emily Olson all had one goal in the victory.

North Muskegon outshot Fremont 18-0.

REETHS-PUFFER 7, WESTERN MICHIGAN CHRISTIAN 0– Brooke Bradley scored two goals for the Rockets in the season-opening win on Wednesday while McKenna Monette, Kylie Kinnucan, Lexi Stephenson, Emma Dykema, and Sophia Hekkema all had one goal.

Dykema, Monette and Hekkema all added assists, as well.Reeths-Puffer’s defense was stout, with Ire Niklash, Hailey Bos, Savannah Parker and Jaymi Carmean prevented the Warriors from getting a shot on the net. Goalie Ava Klopp got the shutout.

MONA SHORES 5, GRANDVILLE 0 –  Bri Wade led the Sailors with two goals while Addison Nellis, Lauren Hylland and Lydia Sowles had one goal each. Riley Rosenthal had two assists while Lauren Davis, Sophia Fisher, and Jenna Baker each had one.

Ella Buikema gets the shutout in goal as the Sailors outshot Grandville 10-2 on the night.

Mona Shores is now 1-1 on the season.
