The Ludington girls basketball team defeated Standish Sterling 43-36 on Monday in a Division 2 regional semifinal game at Houghton Lake High School.

The Orioles led 6-4 after a quiet first quarter, then exploded for a 13-6 advantage in the second quarter to take a 19-10 lead at halftime.

The last two quarters were closely matched, and Ludington led 32-21 headed into the fourth. Standish Sterling hit a few late three-pointers to pull within six points, but could get no closer.

Hailey Stowe led Ludington with 18 points.

The Orioles, now 14-4 on the season, will play Escanaba in a regional final game at Houghton Lake on Wednesday night at 7 p.m., with the winner advancing to the state quarterfinals.
