Mason County Central pulls away after halftime, beats Hart for Division 3 district title

A strong second half pushed Mason County Central to a Division 3 district championship Thursday night. The Spartans outscored Hart 25-7 after halftime to pull away for a 55-31 win.

Will Chye led the MCC attack with 20 points and grabbed seven rebounds, while Jayden Perrone scored 11 points and grabbed six rebounds. Nick Trivisonno and Zach Draper scored seven each for the Spartans. 

Parker Hovey paced the Pirates with eight points and 13 boards, while Zach Bitely totaled six points and seven rebounds. 

The game was tight throughout the first half, as Mason County Central led 12-9 at the end of the first quarter and 28-24 at halftime. The Spartans used an 11-4 edge in the third to take a 39-28 lead and closed with a 14-3 edge in the fourth quarter.

The Spartans (3-12) advance to play in the regional semifinal round next Tuesday. Their opponent will be determined on Saturday. Hart finishes the season at 5-13.
