The Mona Shores baseball team rallied for two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to gain a season-opening 4-3 victory over Kenowa Hills on Tuesday.

Aaron Piasecki knocked in the tying run, then scored the winning run on a sacrifice fly by Diego Pena.

Pitcher Mason Brunworth got the win on the mound while Piasecki pitched the seventh to earn the save.

Jason Anderson had two hits for Mona Shores.

OAKRIDGE 11, HUDSONVILLE UNITY CHRISTIAN 8 – Ethan Miller pitched two scoreless innings for the Eagles to start the game. Seth Plumhoff and Ty Coletta also pitched two innings apiece, with Coletta getting the win.

Jake Danicek got the Eagles’ first RBI of the year, scoring Plumhoff on a single up the middle in the second inning. Miller, Plumhoff, and Ty Asmus all scored two runs.

After losing the lead in the fourth inning, the Eagles rallied for five runs in the top of the fifth, and were able to close out the game with heads up defensive plays by Garrett Weber and Matt Danicek.

Ty Coletta finished the game with two hits and two RBIs. Jake Danicek finished with two hits and drove in a run. Ty Asmus scored two runs and drove in two.

FRUITPORT 5, WESTERN MICHIGAN CHRISTIAN 2– Cody Matuz, Austin Wilson, and Gavin Reames combined for a no-hitter as Fruitport bested WMC in a Tuesday night non-conference matchup.

Matuz pitched four innings and struck out 12. Wilson relieved Matuz and picked up the win. Reames pitched the seventh inning and got a save. The trio of pitchers combined for 21 strikeouts on the night while allowing four walks and two unearned runs.

Aaron Sander hit a triple for the Trojans and Caleb Foy managed to knock down a squeeze bunt to drive in the go-ahead run.
