A pair of late defense plays helped Ludington escape with a 41-37 win over Traverse City Central Thursday night.

With the game tied at 37-37 with a minute left, Oriole guard David Schillinger came up with a steal leading to a pair of free throws for teammate Dylan Eaton.

With 15 seconds left, Schillinger nabbed another steal and converted a layup to put Ludington up four.

Ludington led 15-13 after the first quarter and the game was tied 22-22 at the half. The Orioles led 33-30 after the third quarter.

Eaton and Peyton LaCombe scored 10 a piece to lead Ludington, while Schillinger added nine.

Ludington finishes the regular season at 10-5, including 5-3 in the Lakes 8. 

O-K GREEN

MUSKEGON 49, MONA SHORES 41 — The Big Reds held off an upset bid from the rival Sailors Thursday night.

The Sailors started strong, taking a 16-13 lead after the first quarter, but were held to just four points in the second quarter and Muskegon led 21-20 at the break.

The Big Reds extended the lead to 34-32 entering the fourth before closing out the win.

Jordan Briggs led Muskegon with a game-high 18 points. Kalil Stimage added 14 for the Big Reds.

Drew Southland led Mona Shores with 12 points. Ethan Krueger added 10 points and seven rebounds, while Keontae Richards scored nine. 

HOLLAND 66, REETHS-PUFFER 53 — The Rockets fell behind 11-0 out of the gate and couldn’t recover in an O-K Green game Thursday. Reeths-Puffer trailed 22-14 after one quarter, 35-24 at halftime and 48-44 heading to the fourth.

Kaleb Mitchelson paced the Rockets with 20 points. Freshman Travis Ambrose posted a double-double with a career-high 15 points and 11 rebounds. 

Reeths-Puffer finishes the regular season 8-9, including 7-7 in conference play. 

O-K RED

GRAND HAVEN 62, EAST KENTWOOD 47 — The Buccaneers used a dominant second quarter to gain the edge Thursday night. Grand Haven led just 9-8 after the first quarter, but outscored the Falcons 20-6 in the second to lead 29-14 at the break.

Grand Haven led 42-36 after three quarters.

Nic Stump led the Buccaneers with 14 points, followed by Harrison Sorrelle with 11 and Bashir Neely and Landon VanBeek with 10 each. 

Grand Haven finishes the regular season at 9-5. 

WEST MICHIGAN CONFERENCE

NORTH MUSKEGON 53, MASON COUNTY CENTRAL 29 — Brennen McManus led the Norse to victory against the Spartans with 21 points on the night. Troy McManus and Rob Eckheart followed with eight points each for North Muskegon.

The Norse led 15-5 after the first quarter, 31-11 going into halftime and 46-17 at the end of the third.

Will Chye put up 11 points and six rebounds for Mason County Central, while Jayden Perrone added seven.

The Norse improve to 6-7 for the regular season and 5-7 in the West Michigan Conference. The Spartans are now 1-12 overall, including 0-11 in the WMC.

RAVENNA 62, SHELBY 58 — Joel Emery led the Bulldogs to a West Michigan Conference victory with 23 points and nine rebounds on the night. Kyle Beebe put up another 18 and Dom Jones added 12.

The Tigers led 15-11 in the first quarter, but Ravenna tied the game 31-31 to end the first half. Shelby took back the lead to end the third at 48-45, but the Bulldogs outscored their conference rivals in the fourth to take the win.

Shelby’s Joseph Hayes put up a double-double, scoring 16 points and grabbing 11 rebounds. Logan Claeys added another 13 points.
