The Mason County Central girls basketball team defeated Shelby 46-33 on Wednesday night in a West Michigan Conference clash.

The Spartans led 33-32 headed to the fourth quarter before holding Shelby to just one point over the final eight minutes.

Wren Nelson led Mason County Central with 14 points and seven rebounds while Nyah Tryon added 12 points, four assists and two steals.

Lexi Schultz led Shelby with 11 points while Kendall Zoulek finished with nine points and nine rebounds.

The Spartans are now 4-7 overall and 3-6 in West Michigan Conference play while Shelby falls to 4-6 overall and 3-5 in conference play.

RAVENNA 36, COOPERSVILLE 22- Emily Crowley led Ravenna with 13 points in a big non-conference win over Coopersville on Wednesday night. 

Emma Gillard had eight points and nine rebounds for the Bulldogs while teammate Delaney Mabrito added nine rebounds and four steals in the victory. 

Ravenna trailed the first quarter 8-6, but led 12-10 entering halftime, and led 25-13 at the end of third quarter. 

The Bulldogs are now 4-4 on the season and remain 2-4 in the West Michigan Conference.

KENT CITY 43, MORLEY STANWOOD 32- Jenna Harrison and Kenzie Bowers each had big nights for the Eagles as they went on to beat Morley Stanwood.

Harrison had 15 points while Bowers had 12 points for the Eagles.

The Eagles led the first quarter 16-13, led 24-21 going into halftime, and led 34-27 at the end of the third quarter.

Morley Stanwood was led by Brooke Brauner with 11 points and Braelyn Berry with 10 points.

Kent City is now 11-0 on the season and 6-0 in conference play. They will play at East Grand Rapids on Saturday in a matchup of top teams.

NEWAYGO 53, FREMONT 25 – The Packers turned the ball over 30 times as their three-game winning streak was snapped.

Witte’s team-leading six points came on two three-point shots in the fourth quarter while Kaitlynn Bennett led the Packers with nine rebounds.

The Packers trailed the first quarter 7-4, trailed 21-9 entering halftime, and trailed 40-13 at the end of the third quarter.

Fremont is now 3-7 overall and 3-6 in conference play. They’ll next host Tri County on Friday.

WHITEHALL 58, OAKRIDGE 22 – Greta Hosticka had 16 first-half points in Whitehall’s big win over Oakridge on Wednesday night.

Hosticka finished with 19 points and seven steals while teammate Kenzie Johnson added nine points.

The Vikings led the first quarter 21-0, led 32-8 entering halftime, and led 47-15 at the end of third quarter. 

Kyla Stewart led the Eagles with seven points while teammate Destyni Lane added five points in the loss.

The Vikings are now 6-4 overall and 5-3 in the West Michigan Conference while Oakridge is now 3-6 overall and 2-6 in the West Michigan Conference.

WEST MICHIGAN CHRISTIAN 71, KELLOGSVILLE 26 – Taylor Folkema had a huge 29-point game for the Warriors in a big win over Kellogsville.

Folkema also had five steals and four assists while Kyla Wiersema added 15 points and teammate Maddie Wiersema had 11 points in the Warrior’s victory on Wednesday night.

The Warriors led the first quarter 27-0, led 43-16 entering halftime, and led 56-20 at the end of third quarter. . 

WMC is now 9-1 overall and remain 5-1 in conference play.

HESPERIA 54, MUSKEGON CATHOLIC CENTRAL 33 – The Panthers had three different players finish with double-digit points in their win over Muskegon Catholic Central on Wednesday night.

Emily Bayle led the Panthers with 18 points while Allison Homfeld had 10 points on the night. Emmi Tinkham added 12 points and led the team with eight rebounds in the win.

McKenna Gentry was the top scorer for the Crusaders as she finished with 14 points in the loss.

The Panthers are now 3-4 overall and remain 1-4 in conference play. The Crusaders are now 4-5 overall on the season.

MONTAGUE 42, HART 25 – Braquelle Osborne led Montague with 11 points in their big win over Hart on Wednesday night. 

Osborne also added four assists and four steals while teammate Claire Meacham had eight points and eight rebounds for the Wildcats.

Hart was led by Jayd Hovey with 13 points on the night.

Montague is now 8-0 overall and undefeated in conference play. They will be playing at Holland on Friday.
