The West Michigan Whitecaps fell 4-2 to Fort Wayne on Wednesday for a second straight loss to begin the season.

West Michigan took a 1-0 lead in the second inning when Dillon Dingler hit a solo home run.

However, Fort Wayne responded with a run in the third inning to tie the game at 1-1.

A fourth inning RBI fielders choice groundout by Daniel Cabrera that scored Spencer Torkelson gave the Whitecaps a 2-1 lead.

Fort Wayne responded with a three run sixth inning to take a 4-2 lead which was ultimately too much for the Whitecaps to overcome.

Dingler led the Whitecaps with two hits on the night while Torkelson picked up his first hit of the season.

The Whitecaps are now 0-2 on the season and will continue their road series at Fort Wayne on Thursday with first pitch scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
