The Fremont baseball team edged Ludington 2-1 on Friday in an exciting non-conference pitching duel.
Payton Mansfield took the hill for Fremont, tossing four innings while allowing one run on four hits and striking out eight. Joe Kortage and Joey DeLong led the Packer offense with two hits apiece.
Brad Mesyar took the tough-luck loss for Ludington, allowing one earned run on seven hits while striking out six. Mesyar and Stephen Weinert led the offense with two hits apiece.
Ludington is 14-7 on the season.
NON-CONFERENCE
MONTAGUE 9-15, ORCHARD VIEW 0-0 – The Wildcats posted a decisive sweep over OV in non-conference action.
In Game 1, Owen Petersen picked up the win on the mound, pitching four innings, allowing one hit while striking out seven. Kade Johnson led the offense with three hits, Aidan Buchberger drove in two runs, while Colton Blankstrom picked up two hits.
In Game 2, Aidan Buchberger recorded the win, tossing four innings without giving up a hit and striking out one. Blankstrom paced the offense with four hits and three RBIs. Tugg Nichols also had three hits and drove in four runs while Buchberger recorded two hits and two RBIs.
The Wildcats improved to 14-10 overall.
MUSKEGON CATHOLIC CENTRAL 12, TRI-UNITY CHRISTIAN 0 – Tom Kartes picked up the win on the mound, turning in four innings of shutout ball while allowing three hits and striking out five.
Kartes helped his own cause at the plate, picking up a pair of hits, while Navarre Klint did the same.
The Crusaders improved to 13-6 on the season.
O-K BLUE
UNITY CHRISTIAN 10, FRUITPORT 2 – The Trojans fell in O-K Blue conference action.
Mayson Whitlow led the Fruitport offense with two RBIs while Gavin Reames and Cody Matuz recorded two hits each.
