GMAA softball tournament Tiers 2 and 3: Montague and North Muskegon battle their way to city championships

The Montague softball team squeaked out a pair of one-run victories to capture the championship of the Greater Muskegon Athletic Association Tier 2 Tournament on Saturday.

The Wildcats beat Fruitport 2-1 and Whitehall 2-1.

Pitcher Bailey Belinger was the hero for Montague, allowing just six hits over the two games while striking out 27 batters, including 18 against Whitehall.

North Muskegon wins Tier 3 title

The North Muskegon softball team outslugged Orchard View 13-10 on Saturday in the championship game of the Greater Muskegon Athletic Association Tier 3 Tournament.

Baila Lang and Emily Gale paced the North Muskegon offense with a home run each. Lang, Gale, Rylee Cooper and Megan Houseman recorded multi-hit games for the Norse. 

Emma Croff, Haley DeWeerdt and Madeline Fellows led the Cardinals with two hits apiece.
