The West Michigan Whitecaps overcame an early 2-0 deficit on Tuesday night to win 4-3 in the first game of a home series with Lake County.

Trailing 2-0 in the fourth inning, an RBI groundout by Bryant Packard scored Daniel Cabrera to make the score 2-1.

Later in the inning, Eliezer Alfonzo hit a sacrifice fly that scored Dillon Dingler to tie the game at 2-2.

In the fifth inning, Andre Lipcius hit a two run double that scored Corey Joyce and Jose King to give the Whitecaps a 4-2 lead.

Lake County scored one run in the sixth inning which made the score 4-3 and was ultimately the final score.

Seven Whitecaps hitters registered a hit on Tuesday night with Lipcius, Packard and Alfonzo all picking up RBIs.

Starting pitcher Chance Kirby picked up the win, allowing two runs on three hits over five innings of work.

Ruben Garcia picked up the save for the Whitecaps, striking out all three hitters he faced in the ninth inning.

The Whitecaps are now 9-9 overall on the season and will continue their home series against Lake County on Wednesday with first pitch scheduled for 6:35 p.m.
