The West Michigan Whitecaps jumped out to an early lead on Sunday and never looked back, defeating Lake County 7-1 for their seventh straight victory.

With the victory, the Whitecaps swept the Captains in their six game series and are now 14-9 overall and in first place of the High A Central East Division.

Eliezer Alfonzo brought home two runs in the first inning when he singled home Daniel Cabrea and Dillon Dingler to give the Whitecaps a 2-0 lead.

In the second inning, Cabrera launched a three run home run to give the Whitecaps a 5-0 lead.

Dingler hit his fifth home run of the season in the seventh inning when he hit a two run shot to extend the Whitecap lead to 7-0.

Lake County scratched across their lone run of the day in the ninth inning to make the final score 7-1.

Cabrera led the Whitecaps offensive attack on the day with three hits and three RBIs.

Starting pitcher Chance Kirby picked up the victory for the Whitecaps, allowing one walk and one hit while striking out five over six innings of work.

The Whitecaps are off on Monday before beginning a six game road series at Great Lakes on Tuesday with first pitch scheduled for 7 p.m.
