The West Michigan Whitecaps offense put on a show on Saturday in a 16-6 victory at Fort Wayne.

Spencer Torkelson scored on a Daniel Cabrera sacrifice fly in the fourth inning to give the Whitecaps a 1-0 lead.

The lead was short lived as Fort Wayne scored two runs in the bottom of the fourth to give the Whitecaps a 2-1 deficit.

Torkelson singled home Bryant Packard and Corey Joyce in the fifth inning to give the Whitecaps a 3-2 lead. Later in the inning, Andre Lipcius tripled home Torkelson and Dillon Dingler.

To cap off the fifth inning really, Lipcius scored on a wild pitch to give the Whitecaps a 6-2 lead.

After Fort Wayne cut the Whitecaps lead to 6-3, West Michigan responded with three runs in the seventh inning, making the score 9-3.

With the score 9-6 in the ninth inning, the Whitecaps scored seven runs to ultimately blow the game open.

In the ninth inning, Eliezer Alfonzo singled home Lipcius, Joyce doubled home Alfonzo and Pakcard, Parker Meadows doubled ome Reynaldo Rivera and Joyce, Meadows scored on a Torkelson sacrifice fly and Dingler hit a solo home run.

Reliever Yaya Chentouf picked up the win, allowing one run on two hits while also striking out two over 1 and 1/3 innings.

Relievers Brendan White, Angel Reyes and Sandel De La Cruz all pitched clean innings on Saturday.

Offensively, Lipcius led the Whitecaps with three hits, two runs and two RBIs while Torkelson finished with two hits, three runs and three RBIs.

The Whitecaps are now 2-3 and will complete their series at Fort Wayne on Sunday with first pitch scheduled for 1:05 p.m.
