The West Michigan Whitecaps snapped a five game losing streak with a 10-0 victory over Lansing on Thursday night.

Dillon Dingler singled home Bryant Packard in the first inning to give the Whitecaps a 1-0 lead.

In the fourth inning, Daniel Cabrera singled home Spencer Torkelson and Dingler to extend the Whitecaps lead to 3-0.

Cabrera hit a sacrifice fly in the fifth inning to score Packard and extend the lead to 4-0.

Reynaldo Rivera singled home Trei Cruz and Torkelson in the seventh inning while Jose King doubled home Cabrera, Rivera and Eliezer Alfonzo to extend the lead to 9-0.

The final run of the night gcame in the eighth inning when Cabrera singled home Torkelson.

Torkelson led the Whitecaps with three hits and two walks while also scoring three runs on the night.

Dingler totaled three hits and one RBI while Cabrera totaled two hits and three RBIs.

Reliever Zac Shepherd picked up the victory to improve his record to 4-0, striking out two and allowing just two hits over three innings of work.

The Whitecaps are now 17-15 overall on the season and are one and a half games behind Dayton for first place in the High A Central East Division.

On Friday, the Whitecaps will continue their home series against Dayton with first pitch scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
