Aidan Poling pitched a complete game two-hitter while striking out 15 batters to lead the Holton baseball team to a 9-3 victory over Montabella on Tuesday in a Division 3 pre-district game.

Poling helped his own cause at the plate by recording three hits. Cody Moreen, Stephen Kersting, Bo Larabee and Carter Brant each recorded a pair of hits, while Austin Fowler and Brock Brown each drove in a run.

The Red Devils move on to play White Cloud Saturday at Muskegon Catholic Central High School in Division 1 districts. The winner will advance to the finals on the same day.

DIVISION 2 PRE-DISTRICT

FRUITPORT 11, SPRING LAKE 3 – Cody Matuz pitched the victory, going six innings while striking out six and scattering three hits.  Gavin Reames came on in relief to close out the game. 

The leading hitters for Fruitport were Reames, Matuz and Blake Hronek with two apiece.

Fruitport will play Reeths-Puffer in a regular season game on Thursday, then will meet Whitehall in a district semifinal game on Saturday at 10 a.m. at Orchard View. The winner will advance to the district finals later in the day.

FREMONT 6, NEWAYGO 3 – The Packers totaled 13 hit in the pre-district victory. Logan Nelson swatted four hits, including two doubles, while Joey DeLong, Joe Kortge and Michael Baden also had multiple hits.

Payton Mansfield pitched the win, tossing seven innings, allowing six hits, striking out six and walking one.

Fremont will face Grant at 10 a.m. on Saturday in the district semifinals at Alma High School. The winner will advance to the district title game later that day.

DIVISION 3 PRE-DISTRICT

RAVENNA 4, CENTRAL MONTCALM 1 – Adam Nutt threw the complete game victory for the Bulldogs, scattering five hits and striking uut four. Joel Emery led the offense with three hits while Kurtis Spruit and Thomas McCullough each knocked in runs.

Ravenna will play Lakeview on Saturday at 10 a.m. in the district semifinals on its home field. The winner will advance to the title game later in the day.

REGULAR SEASON

MONA SHORES 6, NORTHVIEW 0 – Three pitchers combined for a complete game shutout for the Sailors.

Jason Anderson threw the first two scoreless innings. Brady Whalen followed with three shutout innings and got the win, while Jaxon Huffman got the last six outs. The Mona Shores pitchers allowed just three hits while striking out five. 

Huffman led the way offensively for the Sailors with two hits, including a double, while scoring on run and knocking in another. Landon Thalman had a hit and two RBIs while Reid McAvoy walked twice and scored twice.

Mona Shores, now 23-9 on the season, will host Hudsonville on Wednesday before opening district play on Saturday against Muskegon at 10 a.m. The winner advances to the district championship game later that day.
