Whitecaps blow early lead, have win streak snapped but remain in tie for first place

The West Michigan Whitecaps had their eight game win streak snapped on Wednesday with a 5-4 road loss at Great Lakes.

With the loss, the Whitecaps are now 15-10 overall on the season and are tied for first place in the High A Central East Division.

Daniel Cabrera doubled home Spencer Torkelson in the first inning while Dillon Dingler singled home Cabrear to give the Whitecaps a 2-0 lead.

Great Lakes responded with two runs in the second inning to tie the game at 2-2.

Dingler hit a solo home run in the fourth inning to give the Whitecaps a 3-2 lead.

In the fifth inning, three Great Lakes runs gave the Loons a 5-3 lead.

Wenceel Perez hit a solo home run in the eighth inning to make the score 5-4 which was ultimately the final.

Dingler led the Whitecaps with two hits while Torkelson had one hit and a run scored.

The Whitecaps will continue their road series at Great Lakes on Thursday with first pitch scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
