The West Michigan Whitecaps continued their winning ways on Tuesday with a 7-5 victory over Great Lakes for their eighth straight win.

In the first inning, Spencer Torkelson doubled home Wenceel Perez to give the Whitecaps an early 1-0 lead.

Later in the inning, Daniel Cabrera tripled home Torkelson before Cabrera was brought home on a RBI double from Dillon Dingler.

Dingler scored on a double play later in the inning before Eric De La Rosa singled home Dane Myers and Jose King stole home to cap off a six run inning.

Great Lakes responded with three runs in their portion of the first and one run in the second inning to make the score 6-4.

Jose King singled home Myers in the third inning to extend the Whitecaps lead to 7-4.

Great Lakes scored one run in the fifth inning to ultimately make the final score 7-5.

Dingler led the Whitecaps with three hits on the night while Cabrera, King and De La Rosa each finished with two hits.

The eight game winning streak for West Michigan is their longest such streak since 2017.

With the victory, the Whitecaps are now 15-9 overall and remain in first place of the High A Central East Division.

Great Lakes and the Whitecaps will continue their series on Wednesday with first pitch scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
