The Fruitport Trojans used a fast start to kick off the 2021 football season.

The Trojans put up 22 first-quarter points en route to a 42-2 drubbing of Kenowa Hills on Thursday night.

There were plenty of top notch performances for the Trojans in passing, rushing and receiving.

Quarterback Gavin Reames led the way with three touchdown passes and rushed for 78 yards. His touchdown passes included a 12-yard pass to Camden Farrell late in the first quarter, a 39-yard pass to Cody Nash late in the first half and an 80-yard scoring play to Farrell early in the third quarter.

Farrell finished with five catches for 140 yards. Not to be outdone, Nash had five catches for 159 yards.

Reames completed 10 of his 17 passes for 299 yards.

Nash rushed 13 yards for a touchdown in the opening quarter and Paschal Jolman had touchdown runs of 53 and 21 yards.

Jolman finished with 10 carries for 142 yards.

Jolman and A.B. Fielstra led the Trojans defense with 11 tackles each.
