The Ludington Orioels took advantage of Fremont turnovers in a 20-6 season-opening win in Fremont on Friday night.

Much of that was due to Ludington’s stingy secondary that produced four interceptions.

Levi Laman had two picks and also had four tackles, Nathan Gilchrist had four tackles and one interception while Steven Weinert had one interception. Also contributing on defense was Nikolai Kehrer with six tackles and Eddie Gamble had five.

The Orioles focused heavily on the ground game to win their season opener.

Quarterback Trey Forinski rushed for 106 yards and a touchdown and also passed for a touchdown.

Adrian Gilchrist found open field on five rushing attempts for 116 yard and Wilson Gunnel had a 10-yard rushing touchdown for Ludington..

The Packers looked to running back Justin Dirheimer to handle the majority of the work load. He rushed 22 times for 111 yards.

Ludington hosts Sparta in its Week-2 contents while Fremont takes on Big Rapids.
