Fremont’s Conor Somers and Taylor Mater showed how good the Packers’ cross country program is at Saturday’s Ludington Invitational at West Shore Community College.

Both Somers and Mater took first place in the boys and girls big school divisions. Somers finished his race in 16:30.70 while Mater ran the course in 20:36.50. 

The Packers’ boys team took first overall as well with a 25 team score. Traverse City Central (52) finished second, Manistee (54), Ludington (107) and Orchard View (140) followed.

Fremont was also led by Cole Lowery in second place while Gabriel Jones finished fifth and Sean Pettis took ninth.

The Ludington girls team finished with 41 total points, followed by Manistee (53), Traverse City Central (55), Fremont (99) and Orchard View (125).

The Orioles had three girls finish in the top ten. Nadia Grierson finished in third place while Olivia Andersen took fourth and Mackenzie Keillor sixth.

Holton’s Vanessa Peltoniemi finished tenth overall. 

In the girls small school division, Frankfort (18) took top honors, followed by White Cloud (46) and Pentwater (56).
