With five runner’s finishing in the top ten, the Fremont Packers took first place at Tuesday’s CSAA Gold Jamboree at Conklin Park in Newaygo.

Fremont finished with a total team score of 29, followed by Reed City (77), Big Rapids (97), Tri County (130), Chippewa Hills (138), Grant (145), Central Montcalm (148) and Newaygo (179).

Taking top individual honors was Fremont senior Conor Somers, crossing the finish line with a time of 17:02.73.

Other local top ten finishers for Fremont  included Gavin Schuler (4th), Brennan Schuler (5th) and Cole Lowery (10th).

In girl’s action, it was a rough day for local teams. Chippewa Hills finished first with a score of 52, followed by Central Montcalm (65), Reed City (70), Big Rapids (65), Newaygo (102), Fremont (167), Tri County (170) and Grant (215).

Sarah Storey finished first for Chippewa Hills with a time of 20:06.23.

Other local top ten finishers included Newaygo’s Remington Arney (3rd) and Fremont’s Taava Johnson (7th).
