Fruitport Calvary Christian volleyball hosted Black River on Thursday in its first Alliance League match up of the season.

The Eagles were within five in the first and last matches, but couldn’t pull ahead, falling 26-24, 25-17, 25-21.

Ella Dykman paced Calvary Christian with five aces, four kills and two blocks, Anna Childerhose had two aces and made two blocks and Maddy Hoffman got three aces, three kills, 13 assists and eight digs.

Liz Gutierrez had three kills and eight digs and Claire Swanson had eight digs.

Calvary Christian slumps to 1-3-1 for the season and 0-1 in the conference.
