The Grand Haven Buccaneer football team opened the OK Red conference slate on Friday night with a narrow 28-26 victory over the visiting Jenison Wildcats.

The host Bucs rolled up 319 yards in total offense, including 284 on the ground.

Leading the charge on the ground was Ryan Francis, who rushed 16 times for 123 yards and a touchdown. Quarterback Owen Worthington had one touchdown pass and rushed 17 times for 68 yards and two more touchdowns.

Quarterback Owen Worthington struggled through the air going 4/10 with 35 yards and a touchdown. Worthington found better luck with his legs rushing 17 times for 68 yards finding the end zone twice.

Bashir Neely led the Buc defense with six tackles, one for loss, and Gaven Strong added four tackles.

Next Friday Grand Haven will travel to West Ottawa for another OK Red matchup.
