Ravenna had ideas of ruining homecoming for Montague on Friday night.

But, after scoring the game’s first touchdown, Montague’s defense took over in a 14-7 win over Ravenna.

Tugg Nichols scored the winning touchdown on a 26-yard second-quarter pass from Andrew Kooi for Montague (4-1, 3-0).

Ravenna (3-2, 2-2) had two fumble recoveries and an interception in the loss. Quarterback Kyle Beebe scored with a 5-yard first-quarter touchdown run for the team’s only score.  

Montague answered with a 1-yard Dylon Everett touchdown run before adding the Nichols score before halftime.

Kooi was 6-of-11 with a touchdown and an interception while Dylon Everett ran for 162 yards on 29 carries for Montague.

Ravenna ran 69 plays to Montague’s 53 and outgained Montague 274-249.  

Beebe was 10-for-20 with 72 yards while  in the air.  Thomas McCullough had 15 carries and 104 yards rushing for Ravenna.
