North Muskegon throttled Shelby in a battle of winless teams on Friday night in a West Michigan Conference matchup.

The Norsemen’s dominant 34-point first quarter fueled a 67-0 victory over the Tigers.

North Muskegon totaled 350 rushing yards and 163 passing yards on the day. The Norsemen totaled five scores greater than 20 yards in the first quarter.

The rushing attack saw a multitude of Norsemen carry the football including five different running backs scoring at least one touchdown.

Nick Dana led the charge for North Muskegon with 108 yards on six attempts with two touchdowns.

James Young threw four touchdowns on the evening for 131 yards on 6 of 7 passing. Matt Colbert caught a 49-yard touchdown pass just eight seconds into the ballgame. Ben Meyers tallied two touchdowns of his own, one on the ground and one through the air, including a 57-yard gallop.

Shelby’s offense recorded 64 yards on the ground and 75 yards through the air. Cade Clement was the leading rusher for the Tigers with 35 yards on 18 attempts. Trejyn Waller was the leading receiver with two receptions for 50 yards.

Sam Gallo led the Norsemen’s stifling defense with seven tackles, three tackles for loss. Drew Bartos chipped in with six tackles and two tackles for losses. Bo Neadeau contributed an interception in the Norse victory and four tackles.  

North Muskegon improves to 1-2 overall and 1-1 in the WMC. The Norse face off with Hart next Friday.

Shelby falls to 0-3 and 0-2 in the WMC and will host Whitehall next week.
