Penalties hurt Fruitport in 28-12 loss to visiting Cadillac

Fruitport’s Week 2 matchup with visiting Cadillac did not get off to a good start as the Trojans fell 28-12 on youth football night.

The Trojans trailed 14-0 at halftime and answered in the third quarter, cutting its deficit to 14-6. But Cadillac responded with back-to-back scores to seal the win. 

Penalties also hurt Fruitport, committing 13 on the field to Cadillac’s 10.  

Camden Farrell led Fruitport’s offense catching a pair of touchdown passes from QB Gavin Reames. Farrell finished with 70 yards on three catches. 

Reames finished with 187 yards on 12 of 23 passing. Cody Nash had four catches for 77 yards. 

Defensively, Fruitport was paced by Collin Jolman with 15 tackles, including an interception.

Hayden Harper had seven tackles, Nash Cooper and Richard Wiggins IV had six each and Nash had five tackles for the Trojans.
