Anyone who has a pulse for football in Muskegon County, knows about the rivalry between Muskegon and Mona Shores.
 
This year the two varsity teams lock horns on October 8 at Mona Shores High School. That game is just around the corner. 
 
But there was another Mona Shores and Muskegon rivalry game on Wednesday night that had built quite a bit of hype:

A thousand people or more attended the game, even Mona Shores varsity Coach Matt Koziak was on the sideline. 
 
Yes, you heard that right. A thousand people at a junior high football game. 
 

Does anyone think the varsity game between the Sailors and Big Reds is going to be intense this year?

Mona Shores eighth grade won the game 35-13 and was highlighted by the Sailors scoring on their first three possessions.

After a successful opening drive, the Sailors recovered an onside kick and scored again. The team decided to go with the onside kick once again, and again, was successful and scored, taking a 21-0 lead.

From the sounds of it and highlights from the game, fans were not disappointed in the excitement.
