The Fruitport boys soccer team moved on to the Division 3 district finals as they shutout Whitehall 5-0 on Tuesday.

Sam Gieske netted a hat trick to lead the Trojans.

Fruitport scored quickly as Bode Anspach put the Trojans up 1-0, heading in a pass from Ryan Laus just four minutes into the action.

Laus notched a goal of his own off a setup by Jackson Rebone.

Sam Gieske connected on a pair of goals off assists from Laus, giving Fruitport a 4-0 lead at halftime.

Coming out of the half, Gieske completed his hat trick as he found the net off a pass by Zach Schaefer.

Goalkeeper Justin Laus recorded five saves for the Trojans who outshot the Vikings 19-5.

Coach Dan Hazekamp was elated with the performance of his team in their win.

“I thought the boys came out with tremendous energy from the start tonight and played unselfish from beginning to end,” said Coach Hazekamp. “Overall, it was a solid performance against a good Whitehall team.”

Fruitport improves to 13-2-3 and will face rival Spring Lake at Reeths-Puffer on Thursday. The two teams are currently 1-1 against each other this season.
