The Reeths-Puffer Rocket boys cross country team gave it a shot, but in the end, fell one point short in the OK Green Conference cross country championship.

Zeeland West escaped with a 54-55 victory on a soggy course Wednesday afternoon at Reeths-Puffer.

Zeeland East grabbed the third, followed by Holland, Mona Shores, Grand Rapids Union and Muskegon.

An intermittent rain made for damp conditions for the competitors and spectators alike. Despite the tough conditions, the Rockets stayed together in a tight pack that nearly was enough to get them a victory.
