Ludington’s girls cross country team had four runners finish in the top 10 and cruised to an overwhelming victory at the Late Season Warrior Invitational at Remus Chippewa Hills on Saturday.

A total of 15 girls teams competed.

The Orioles with 62 points had no trouble putting a lot of ground between themselves and the rest of the field. Manton and Western Michigan Christian each scored 115 points, taking second and third, respectively.

Central Montcalm was fourth followed by Chippewa Hills, Reed City, Beal City, Vestaburg, Greenville, Fremont, Newaygo, Morley-Stanwood, Howard City Tri-County and Grant.

Newago sophomore Remington Arney finished third with a time of 19:53.50. Fremont senior Taava Johnson was ninth in a time of 21:02.37.

Ludington freshman Summer Brower was the first Oriole to cross the finish line in sixth place with a time of 20:21.99. Freshman Nadia Grierson was eighth in 21:00.87, freshman Autumn Brower was ninth in 21:15.19 and sophomore Mackenzie Keillor was 10th in 21:34.80.

In the boys’ race, Fremont took first place with 27 points. Runner-up Reed City had 114. A total of 16 boys teams competed

Fremont senior Connor Somers captured first place in 15:43.47, senior Brennan Schuler finished fourth in 17:06.69 and senior Gavin Schuler was sixth in 17:13.67.

Ludington finished third followed by White Cloud, Manton, Chippewa Hills, Montague, Western Michigan Christian, Morley-Stanwood, Howard City Tri-County, Grant, Greenville, Beal City, McBain Northern Michigan Christian and Hesperia.
