The Mason County Eastern Cardinals swept their third consecutive West Michigan D League Cross County Jamboree of the season on Wednesday. The meet was hosted by Bear Lake.

MCE placed five runners in the top 10 in the boy’s race and finished with 20 points. Pentwater finished second with 45 points and Marion was third with 70.

MCE’s senior Eli Shoup claimed top honors with a time of 17:50. Teammate Nate Wing, a junior, was close behind at 18:01. Other local top ten runners included; Pentwater’s Abe VanDuinen in fourth, Mason Eastern’s Peter Hybza in sixth, Pentwater’s Michael Daniels in seventh, Mason Eastern’s Clay Shoup in eighth and MCE’s Matzen Dakota in 10th.

Mason County Eastern placed four girls in the top 10 enroute to 21 points. They were followed by Bear Lake-Onekama with 52 and Pentwater with 59.

Amelia Thompson from Big Rapids Crossroads Academy took first place with a time of 21:07. MCE claimed the second and third spots, respectively, with Lucy Shoup and Olivia Wing.

Other local top 10 runners included; Mason Eastern’s Sydney Gage in fourth, MCE’s Amelia Malburg in eighth, Walkerville’s Julie Sheehy in ninth and Pentwater’s Anna VanDuinen in 10th.
