Allendale – Grand Haven is sending both its boys and girls cross country teams to the MHSAA Division 1 state championship meet.

The boys, led by regional champion Seth Norder, captured the team title while the girls are going to state based on their third-place finish.

Grand Haven’s boys held off Rockford 63-75 to win the team title. Lowell finished third, followed by Forest Hills Central and Reeths-Puffer. Mona Shores was 11th and Muskegon was 16th as the other area schools completing.

Norder, a sophomore, captured the individual title with a time of 15:24.40. His teammate, junior Nolan Clark, was fourth in 15:57.07, while senior Ben Pease was 11th in 16:26.29 and qualified for the individual final.

Reeths-Puffer sophomore Jaxon Allen finished eighth in 16:22.59 and will run in the individual state final.

The Buccaneer girls squad finished just two points shy of second place. Forest Hills Northern was the regional champion, followed by Rockford and Grand Haven, which finished with 99 points.

Forest Hills Central was fourth and Lowell came in fifth. Other area schools included Mona Shores in eighth, Reeths-Puffer in 13th and Muskegon was 15th.

Grand Haven freshman Valerie Beeck finished fifth with a time of 18:44.53.
