The Spring Lake football team made up some lost ground after facing a 21-point deficit at halftime but fell 35-28 in an intense showdown with Allendale.

The Lakers rallied back, finding the end zone three consecutive times with scores from Andrew Vonwahlde, Derrick Paggeot and Joe Westhoff.

Quarterback Jackson Core was 12 for 23 in passing with 220 yards and three touchdowns for the Lakers.

Andrew Vonwahlde was essential to the ground game and through the air with eight carries for 84 yards with a rushing touchdown after catching three passes for 85 yards and a touchdown.

Paggeot also earned a chunk of yards on few targets going 86 yards on four catches, the longest being for 60 yards.

Leading the way for the Lakers’ defense was RJ Lisman, who posted nine tackles with one for a loss while Vonwahlde made five tackles with two for a loss. Carter Sabo and Jackson Duggins each recorded five tackles.

Spring Lake concludes their regular season with a 6-3 record and awaits its playofff fate on Sunday on Bally Sports Detroit.
