The West Michigan Christian boys soccer team closed out its 2021 regular season with a 4-1 win over Oakridge in a wet and stormy non-conference showdown on Monday.

Warrior Senior Jamie Choe put his team up 1-0 on an assist from Gavin Riksen, six minutes into the game.

Oakridge’s Arturo Romero responded shortly after to tie the score at 1-1.

After a lightning delay, Cole DeJonge lit up the scoreboard again for the Warriors with 11 minutes left in the first half.

In the second half, it was all the Warriors.

Junior Ashton Leffring rocketed in a long free kick and DeJonge knocked in a shot from outside the 18 to cap off the scoring at 4-1.

Junior goalkeeper Jared Olsen had two highlight reel saves midway through the half to keep the comfortable lead for the Warriors.

West Michigan Christian improves to 10-9-1 and will begin tournament play on Friday at home when they will play Wyoming Tri-unity Christian.
