On Friday the Greater Muskegon co-op girls swim team travelled to Zeeland West to battle in the O-K Rainbow Conference Meet.
The Turtles earned a fifth place finish with a score of 228 and swam to a two day total of 78 person record swims and dives.
Senior Katie Cree qualified for the MHSAA diving regionals, posting a 10th place finish with 275.60 points. Also, junior Robyn Hunt, was named to the 2021 O-K Rainbow Tier 1 All Conference Team.
Several Turtles helped lead the team.
Caroline Carlson took seventh in the 200 Free with a time of 2:06.67 and a third place finish in the 100 Back at 1:04.10. Hunt posted fourth in the 100 Fly, posting a time of 1:03.97 and third place in the 500 Free at 5:35.83.
Sydney Sytsema ended fifth in the 50 Free with a time of 25.71 and 6th in the 100 Free with 56.64.
The relay team of Carlson, Naomi Huttenga, Hunt and Sytsema earned a fourth place finish in the 200 Medley Relay with a time of 1:57.91 while the team of Carlson, Gabby Gaston, Hunt and Sytsema also finished fourth recording a time of 3:48.47.
As the season comes to a close Coach Mick Homan can’t help but be proud of his squad.
“I couldn’t have asked for a better send off than to see the Turtles give their all in every race and walked off the pool deck with their heads held high,” said Homan.
