Though the season didn’t end the way they would have liked, the Jayhawks women’s soccer team really proved they are as strong as they have been,

On Friday MCC fell to the number one seed Heartland 1-0 in the semi-final of the NJCAA national tournament in Witchita Kansas.

As the team looks behind them they can see all that they’ve accomplished and even without a national title this Jayhawks squad accomplished a lot.

MCC was able to clinch their third consecutive Region 12 title and earned a final four national appearance.

The team finished first in the nation for multiple categories.

They led in goals scored with 100, corner kicks with 151 and in assists. They also finished sixth in shutouts.

Seven players cracked the top 50 in the nation with assists. Kendall Jones was second with 23, Taylor Noble finished seventh with 16, Ashley Popma was ninth with 14, Sammy Hecht was 11th with 13, Payton McKellar ended 22nd with 10, Nora Brown and Iris heard tied at 31st with nine.

Hecht also posted an impressive seventh in the nation for goals scored.

In the net for the Jayhawks, Tara McGrath finished seventh with 0.77 for goals-against average and Ibbi Fettig was ninth with 0.81.
