The high school hockey season kicked off this past weekend with rivals Mona Shores and Reeths-Puffer facing off.
Mona Shores’ Trent Benedict proved he was way more than the Rockets could handle, tallying a hat trick and three assists as the Sailors cruised to an 8-0 shutout win.
Mona Shores jumped to a 3-0 first period lead on goals from Ty Langlois, Benedict and Diego Pena. The second period was even more in favor of Mona Shores as the Sailors took a 7-0 lead.
Langlois and Jake Nanna each finished with a goal and two assists for Mona Shores.
Landon Taylor and Isaac Habetler each tallied goals in the win while Kolin Jackson had three assists for Mona Shores.
Mona Shores goalie Carter Dethloff posted the shutout.
