The Whitehall girl’s basketball team visited Allendale for the opening game of its season on Tuesday.

The Vikings challenged Allendale quarter by quarter, but fell 35-29.

Whitehall defense held the Falcons to single digit quarters in the first half and held a 13-13 tie at the break.

The Vikings offense bounced back in the third with 10 points and trailed just 25-23 to start the fourth quarter. But Whitehall couldn’t make the plays they needed to pull ahead of the Falcons and scored just six points in the final eight minutes.

Charley Klint played strong down low for Whitehall, grabbing 13 rebounds while putting up seven points. Lola Buckner chipped in six points in the loss.

Whitehall will host the Ravenna Bulldogs on Friday for their first WMC action of the season.
