The Muskegon Heights boys basketball team did not waste any time in its 77-36 thrashing of Western Michigan Chirstian on Thursday night.

The Tigers jumped out with a 16-3 run to start the game and used a pile of fast-break dunks to build a 41-27 lead by halftime.

The second half was no different as Muskegon Heights took a 18-1 run and built it into a 64-31 lead by the end of the third quarter.

Damond Davis and Jakari Edwards led the Tigers with 16 points each. Edwards scored 10 points in the first quarter and Davis put up eight points in the first eight minutes as well.

Also leading Muskegon Heights was Jonathon Moore with 12 points and JaQuan Mathews with 11 points. William Davis chipped in eight points and DaJuan Garrett added seven.

Sam Liggett led WMC with 20 points, scoring 11 of those points in the first quarter. Jared Olsen finished with 13 points in the loss for the Warriors.

WMC will next host Manistee on January 7, while Muskegon Heights travels to Grand Haven on December 28 for the Lakeshore Cup tournament against Traverse City West.
