The Fruitport Calvary Christian boys basketball team rolled into its Chrstimas break with a 70-19 stomping of Hesperia on Tuesday.

Catching fire right out of the gate, the Eagles outscored the Panthers 25-5 in both the first and second quarters to take a 50-10 halftime lead.

Bradley Richards led Calvary Christian with 18 points, seven rebounds and seven assists while Jacob May posted 16 points and eight assists and Ethan Cammenga added 15 points and snagged five steals.

“We’ll take a few days off to let the boys take care of some nagging injuries and get a mental break,” said Calvary Christian Coach Brad Richards. “Overall, our coaches are pleased with how our boys have started the season.”

Leading for the Panthers was Gabe Gould with five points.

Calvary Christian is off  to a 4-1 start on the season and will next take the court on Tuesday, January 4 to host Muskegon Catholic Central.

Hesperia falls to 1-2 and will visit Lakeview on Friday to play their last game before the break.
