The Fruitport girl’s basketball team struggled to find its groove in the first game of the season with a 53-22 loss to host Holland on Tuesday.

The Trojans opened with a balanced scoring attack, trailing 13-12 after the first quarter.

The Dutch picked up steam over the next three quarters with strong scoring and Fruitport failed to capitalize offensively.

Leading in scoring for the Trojans was Sadie Norwood with nine points and Sabi Meil added seven points.

Anna Bol pulled down six rebounds and Auebre Johnson recorded three steals for Fruitport.

The Trojans will look to rebound from their rough start when they travel to Oakridge on Tuesday, December 7 for a non-conference showdown at 7 p.m.
