The Hart girls basketball team used a 17-point performance from Jayd Hovey to down visiting Western Michigan Christian 52-36 in a non-league matchup on Tuesday.
 
Hart used a balanced attack to jump out to a 12-6 first quarter lead and a 29-22 lead at half. The Pirates held WMC to just four points in the fourth and outscored the Warriors 23-14 in the second half. 
 
Jayd Hovey finished with 17 points, five rebounds, four steals and two assists while Aspen Boutell scored eight points and had four steals and three rebounds. 
 
Hart was also led by Addi Hovey with five points, seven rebounds, six steals and three assists and Mariana VanAgtmael had seven points, four steals, three rebounds and two assists. 
 
The taller Warriors were plagued by 30 turnovers and were held to just one offensive rebound on the night. 
 
Kyla Wiersema led WMC with 12 points and 10 rebounds while Maddie Wiersema had eight points and 14 rebounds and Libby Mast chipped in eight points. 
 
Hart is now 2-1 overall and will host Ravenna on Thursday for a West Michigan Conference matchup. 
 
WMC falls to 0-1 and will host Ludington on Friday.
