The Hesperia girls basketball team struggled to find their groove in its 38-22 loss to to White Cloud.

The Panthers trailed 30-18 after three quarters of play and could not find the bottom of the basket in the fourth.

Putting up points for Hesperia was Emmet Tinkham with seven points and Emma Joppich scored six points.

Adrianna Slater pulled down eight rebounds to lead Hesperia under the hoop.

“It was a scrappy game by both teams,” said Hesperia Head Coach Vince Grodus about his team’s season opener. “Good effort by our team, especially since it was our first game.”

Hesperia will try to bounce back when they take the court again at home on Tuesday against Fruitport Calvary Christian.
