The Holton boys basketball team stayed one step ahead of the Tri-County Vikings on Tuesday, and used a big fourth quarter to run away with a 47-31 victory.

The Red Devils outscored Howard City 19-7 in the final eight minutes to pull away. Holton led 17-11 at halftime but held just a 28-24 edge after the third quarter. 

Wyatt Monette sparked the Red Devils, posting a double-double with 20 points and 11 rebounds and also chipped in five assists.

Also contributing to the win was Austin Fowler with 12 points and four assists while Carter Brant hadseven points and had five rebounds.

Blake Nelson led for the Vikings, tallying nine points.

Both teams will play again on Friday with Holton at home against Morley Stanwood and Tri-County traveling to Chippewa Hills.
